‘77

If I didn’t already have a crush on every film major/dude who’s into film before, this trailer for sure sealed the deal.



‘77 (formally known as 5-25-77) is about a teenager named Pat, (John Francis Daley) growing up in rural Illinois in the 70’s, who basically just wants to make some cool ass movies. He wants people to understand his passion for sci-fi and filmmaking and he feels the new movie Star Wars is the key.

Very much a coming of age story and very Almost Famous like. (The director/writer of the film is Pat Johnson - also the main characters name) In fact, Slash Film summed it up pretty well: “If Fanboys was American Pie, this movie seems much more like Almost Famous.” (by the way if you don’t check out Slash Film regularly DO IT, it’s the only film blog I go to)

Apparently the movie wrapped up filming years ago but due to post production issues and other things that happen unexpectedly, it got delayed. Most recently it was shown at the Hamptons International Film Festival last fall but as far as a national release date - no idea.

I’ve fallen in love with this movie already - I’m a sucker for a good indie film and I’m a sucker for guys who like Star Wars. This seems very promising.
