22 March 09

Recap of Saturday.

I woke up in the morning double checked my interview questions and all that jazz then headed downtown via the number 20 bus (<3) I stopped at Jamba as indicated in the pictures below then walked up to The Belmont for the Favorite Gentlemen party.

Harrison Hudson played first and he was great.

Then Winston Audio, which kicked ass on this one song that I wish I remembered the name of.

Leslie played next - no offense but whatev.

Interviewed HH in between sets, which went very well. He was a great interview. I had many people who barely talk and give barely any information and he was the opposite thank gosh.

then Kevin Devine played and hands down it was the best performance of SXSW

He was fantastic. He played Carnival, Another Bag of Bones, Hand of God, Cotton Crush and a bunch more.

OH YEAH

in between each set they played Manchester’s new album. It’s going to be just as good as I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child I can tell.

Then Gringo Star played and I was extremely tired by then already. My feet hurt so bad from Friday and that day.

Finally Manchester played a set of nothing but new songs. I’m pretty sure Andy is sick of all their old stuff but I still love it. They were great as usual.

after that I grabbed some pizza and on the way I saw Kanye West running into a CVS, 4 body guards in toe. That was interesting.

Caught the bus back after that

by the time I actually got back it was about 7 already and I kind of just laid around until 930ish when I headed back downtown to finish up some interviews and see what was going on on the last official day of SXSW.

When I got back I dropped by the belmont again because O’ Brother was playing but they were carding at the time and I didn’t feel like going to the trouble to get in, even though I think I could have but whatev.

Walked up and down 6th street like a million times looking for interesting people to interview. I caught some of Craig Owens set for some reason. Watched a folk band and seen some hip hop stuff going on. Called it a night a little earlier than the night before and it’s a good thing because it took me over 30 minutes to get a taxi because of how many freaking people where there last night. (articles were saying 1500+)

basically, highlight of the trip was defiantly Favorite Gentlemen. Those boys are great, everyone on the label is great.

I think this might be rambling as well so I shall fix it later.
